AirPlan4 - Overview
AirPlan4 is unique in the level of control provided to the user. Allowing the user to perform such tasks as loading aircraft performance data and managing navigation data makes the system incredibly flexible and the operator can be virtually autonomous.
AirPlan4 was designed specifically for the airline market from the beginning and focuses on those aspects essential to a busy airline environment.AirData staff work hard to build good working relationships with customers and pride themselves on a commitment to understand their problems.
AirPlan4 is accessed over your Company network or the Internet, via our dedicated windows application (AirLink4), which can be installed on as many workstations as required. AirPlan4 provides all the functionality you would expect from a system that has been used in the Industry for over 20 years.
This should provide you with a good idea as to what AirPlan flight planning software can offer your business. However, if you are not able to find the information that you are looking for, or would like further clarification or assistance then please contact us and we will do our best to help.
Key Concepts
Key concepts with AirPlan4 are:
- AirPlan4 is an On-site or Bureau system
The On-site system servers reside at our customers' offices whilst Bureau system servers are in our Data Centre; both are fed with data from our Communications Centre in Gatwick. - AirPlan4 is scalable
AirPlan is one of the most modular flight planning solutions available. This means that you only pay for the functionality that you actually want and additional modules can be added as your operation grows. - AirPlan4 Integrates
Integration is when different operations systems share and exchange data. Integration is one of AirData's core values and AirPlan4 supports a wide range of integration options. - AirPlan4 is flexible
We believe in empowering our customers to perform many system tasks themselves, e.g., loading a new aircraft , adding a fictitious airway or airport. If granted the appropriate privileges to perform a task, virtually anything can be done without having to refer back AirData – providing the user autonomy with a very flexible and powerful planning tool. - AirPlan4 saves time and resources
AirPlan4 supports a wealth of automation options all of which are designed to reduce operator errors and save time. - Graphics Graphical displays of routes, flight profiles, charts and weather maps are easily created and available for use in briefings and such packages can also be automatically scheduled using FlightBrief.
- System Logs AirPlan4 logs all system events and many of these are available for customer use. This also allows previously calculated flightplans to be recalled or regenerated.
Available Modules
Some of the common modules available in the AirPlan4 system are shown below. For a more detailed view of the functionality available in AirPlan4 , please see the Functionality section.
This list comprises only the generally available modules and does not include some of our customer specific modules (which have been developed to meet their specific requirements). More information on customisation can be found here.
- Basic Flight Planning Provides all the standard flight planning functionality you would expect, including multi-level plans, backup plans and best route evaluation.
- Weather Provides access to worldwide weather information including upper winds and temperatures, surface actuals, forecasts, SigWx charts, etc. This is automatically route-specific but can be extended to include pre-defined groups of airfields, FIRs, etc.
- NOTAMs Provides access to worldwide NOTAM data and allows the creation of filtering criteria to ensure flight briefs only contain relevant information. Also automatically route-specific but can be extended to include pre-defined groups.
- Advanced Flight Planning Builds upon the Basic module by providing functionality for working with Organised Track Systems, performing Driftdown evaluations, ETOPS etc.
- Ops Messages Provides a highly sophisticated set of rule-based modifiers capable of automatically updating flight planning inputs, based on a wide range of trigger criteria.
- Scheduling Allows the AirPlan4 system to be setup to run in a fully automated manner for both flightplans and weather briefings.
- Electronic Performance Allows you to load automatically generated aircraft performance data directly from the aircraft manufacturer's software tools. This is essential for loading Cost Index performance data.(Note: Not all aircraft manufacturers are currently supported).
- Overflight Cost Analysis Allows the user to establish and analyse the route navigation and terminal costs associated with a particular flight
- Integration AirPlan4 supports the exchange of data with a wide range of third-party products, from Accounting to Ops Control systems.
- Communications AirPlan4 contains a built-in communications centre, which allows transmissions by the whole range of media in common use.
