AirPlan - Overview

AirPlan3 is our highly successful and established onsite solution for aircraft operator's flight planning and flight briefing requirements.

A tried and tested product, AirPlan3 is unique in the level of control provided to the operators who use it. This control makes the system incredibly flexible and, significantly, removes the need to rely on AirData to perform such tasks as adding aircraft, loading performance data and managing navigation data - making the operator far more independent.

Accessed via a dedicated windows application (AirLink3), over a network or the Internet, AirPlan3 provides all the functionality you would expect from a system that has been used by airlines for over 20 years.

The reason why AirPlan3 is so successful in an airline environment is simply due to the fact that it was designed specifically for the airline market from the beginning and, as a result, AirPlan3 focuses heavily on those aspects essential to a busy airline environment, including automation.

Automation allows the vast majority of tasks to be set up and executed automatically via the scheduler, thus freeing up manpower to work on other tasks and increasing the efficiency of the airline.

Key Concepts

Key concepts that relate to AirPlan3 are;

  • AirPlan3 is an on-site system
The servers reside at our customers' offices and are fed with data from our Communications Centre in Gatwick, UK.
  • AirPlan3 is modular
AirPlan3 is one of the most customisable flight planning solutions available. This means that you only pay for the parts that you actually want.
  • AirPlan3 Integrates
The way to maximise your investment is to improve the way your organisation operates. Improvements can be made when operations systems share and exchange data. Integration is one of AirData's core values and AirPlan3 supports a wide range of integration options.
  • AirPlan3 is flexible
We believe in empowering our customers to perform virtually any task themselves from loading a new aircraft into the system to adding a fictitious airway or airport. Assuming the user has been granted the privileges to perform a task, virtually anything can be done without having to rely on AirData - this makes the system both extremly flexible and powerful.
  • AirPlan3 saves time and resources
AirPlan3 supports a wealth of automation options all of which are designed to reduce operator errors and save time.

This section provides a high level view of some of the common modules available in the AirPlan3 system.

This list only shows the generally available modules, it does not list any of our customer specific modules. These are modules that have been developed and paid for by some of our customers to meet their specific requirements. More information on customisation can be found here.

For a more detailed view of the functionality available in AirPlan3, please see the Functionality section.

  • Basic Flight Planning
This module provides all the standard flight planning functionality including multi-level plans, backup plans and best route evaluation
  • Weather
This module provides access to worldwide weather information including upper winds and temperatures, surface actuals, forecasts, SigWx and charts
  • NOTAM
The NOTAM module provides access to our worldwide NOTAM data as well as allowing the creation of various filtering criteria that ensures flight briefs only contain relevant information
  • Advanced Flight Planning
This module builds upon the Basic module by providing functionality for working with Organised Track Systems, performing Driftdown evaluations, ETOPS etc.
  • Ops Messages
This module provides a highly sophisticated rule based set of modifiers capable of updating flight planning inputs based on certain trigger criteria
  • Scheduling
The scheduling module allows the AirPlan3 system to be setup to run in an entirely automated manner
  • Electronic Performance Data
This module allows you to automatically generate and load aircraft performance data directly from the aircraft manufacturer's software tools.
Note: Not all aircraft manufacturers are currently supported
  • Overflight Cost Analysis
This module allows the user to establish and analyse the airspace and terminal costs associated with a particular flight
  • Integration
The integration modules support the exchange of infomration with a wide range of third-party products, from accounting systems to Ops Control systems.
